Get ready to hear Prince Harry talk about Institutional Gaslighting

In the second three episodes of the Netflix docu-series "Harry and Meghan" that air this week, per the trailer that Netflix has dropped we can expect to hear Harry talk about Institutional Gaslighting, something which is sure to create a buzz in the media. So what exactly is Institutional Gaslighting?

Kind thoughts for Meghan Markle

Per one Urban Dictionary definition, Institutional Gaslighting is when a group of  "respected people within an institution are posed as investigating on the victim’s behalf, but in actuality act to belittle or deny the reality of the harm committed in order to protect the institution’s reputation, the institution can cause the victim to question their own perceptions of reality, feelings, instincts, and even sanity." In Meghan's and Harry's case we presume the institution to be the Royal Family / their press offices.

Gaslighting is a term often used in reference to victims of domestic abuse where a perpetrator uses psychological to manipulate a person, usually over an extended period of time, and which causes the victim to question the validity of their own thoughts, perception of reality, or memories and typically leads to confusion, loss of confidence and self-esteem, uncertainty of one's emotional or mental stability, and a dependency on the perpetrator.

In the second three episodes of Netflix's "Harry and Meghan" we should expect to hear more about how the couple were unfairly treated by the UK tabloids, especially as compared to other members of the Royal Family, and hear how this reporting influenced the negative trolling of the couple on social media.
