Prince Harry joins five other high profile individuals in a mini-class action law suit against UK Associated Newspapers - claiming illegal breaches of privacy in how the newspaper group source their stories

Per a press release by the UK law firm Hamlins LLP Prince Harry has joined with other high profile private individuals such as: Baroness Doreen Lawrence of Clarendon OBE (mother of murdered Stephen Lawrence); Sir Elton John, David Furnish, Elizabeth Hurley and Sadie Frost in a mini-class action law-suit against Associated Newspapers who are the publishers of the UK Daily Mail, The Mail on Sunday, and Mail Online.

On behalf of the plaintiffs, the lawyers claim that these individuals have become aware of what is described as 'abhorrent' criminal activity and gross breaches of privacy by Associated Newspapers, including:

• Hiring private investigators to secretly place listening devices inside people's cars and homes;

• Payment of police officials (bribes) with corrupt links to private investigators, for inside sensitive information; 

• Impersonation of individuals to obtain medical information from private hospitals, clinics and treatments centers by deception;

• Accessing bank accounts, credit histories and financial transactions through illicit means and manipulation.

The press release alludes to these unethical and likely illegal practices being just the tip of the iceberg, saying that many innocent people remain unknowing victims of similar practices against them (e.g. regular people like us!)

The group say that they are united in their desire to live in a world where the press operates freely, yet responsibly. 

I for one hope that this case does not settle outside of court and that we can have a public trial and learn more about these horrific allegations.
