Meghan Markle & Prince Harry honoured with the 2022 Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, Ripple of Hope Award

The Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, a non-partisan non-profit human rights organization and their current President, Kerry Kennedy the daughter of the late Robert Kennedy, announced today that Meghan and Harry are to be the recipients of the 2022 Ripple of Hope Award. A prize giving event is scheduled to take place in New York City on December 6th 2022.

Per their website,  The Robert F. Kennedy Ripple of Hope Award honours exemplary leaders across government, business, advocacy, and entertainment who demonstrate an unwavering commitment to social change and work to protect and advance equity, justice, and human rights.

Past recipients of this prestigious award have included: Stacey Abrams, former Vice President Joe Biden, Bono, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former President Bill Clinton, George Clooney, Tim Cook, Dr. Anthony Fauci, Amanda Gorman, Vice President Kamala Harris, Dolores Huerta, Colin Kaepernick, late Congressman John Lewis, former President Barack Obama, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Desmond Tutu.

Other 2022 award recipients announced by the organization today are: Frank Baker, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Siris, and Brian Moynihan, Chair of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Bank of America, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The mission of the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights charity, since its foundation in 1968, is to work with partners to advocate for human rights issues and pursue strategic litigation to hold governments accountable, both in the US and around the world. The organization states that they work with the bravest people on earth, to realize Robert F. Kennedy’s dream of a more just and peaceful world.

In their press release today when they announced that Meghan and Harry had accepted the Ripple of Hope award, Kerry Kennedy said, "the couple has always stood out for their willingness to speak up and change the narrative on racial justice and mental health around the world" and Ms. Kennedy added, “they embody the type of moral courage that my father once called the one essential, vital quality for those who seek to change a world that yields most painfully to change.

The charity felt that Harry and Meghan deserved this award as they have demonstrated a lifelong commitment to building strong and equitable communities, advancing the global dialogue around mental health, and advocating for a better world – both on and offline.
