Prince Harry & Prince William congratulate the 2021 winners of the Princess Diana Legacy Awards

Ahead of the 2021 Prince Diana Legacy Award ceremony on December 9th at the Spencer ancestral home, Althorp House, when Princess Diana's brother Earl Spencer will present 20 young people from the UK and across the  world with their Legacy Awards, Prince William met with this year's UK award winners in person at Kensington Palace, and Prince Harry met with some of the international award winners via video conference.

The Legacy Award ceremony is held every two years, awarding young people for their social action or humanitarian work. This year's winners are based in the UK, Taiwan, Colombia, Germany, India, Indonesia and the USA.

The Legacy Award recipients will have access to a two-year development programme which aims to enhance their skills in four key areas; leadership, community development, social entrepreneurship and technology for good.

The work by this year's award winners includes:
  • campaigning against single use plastics
  • fund raising for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • campaigning to improve and / or to raise awareness on mental health
  • promoting the rights of people with Down Syndrome
  • campaigning to empower girls
  • fundraising to educate and house homeless children in Bangladesh
  • setting up free of charge access to online education resources and 
  • assisting refugees navigate the asylum system in Germany.
