Prince Harry releases a statement, responding to the findings of the Lord Dyson Investigation into the 1995 BBC Princess Diana Interview
Prince Harry has released his own statement to respond to the findings made by Lord Dyson into his investigation of the tactics used by a BBC journalist to obtain an interview with the late Princess Diana back in 1995.
- Former BBC journalist, Martin Bashir, seriously breached BBC rules by mocking up fake bank statements to gain access to the princess
- Bashir showed the fake documents to Diana's brother Earl Spencer, to gain his trust so he would introduce Bashir to Diana.
- Bashir used this connection with Earl Spencer as a foot in the door and so was able to persuade Diana to agree to give the interview.
- The BBC covered up what it had learnt about how Bashir secured the interview. Lord Dyson said this "fell short of the high standards of integrity and transparency which are the BBC's hallmark".
