Mental health charity Mind UK receives a donation from Meghan Markle & Prince Harry
Kathleen Miles, the Director of Fundraising at mental health charity Mind UK, said the organisation appreciated any donations, no matter how small or large, before expressing her gratitude to Meghan and Harry and their Archewell Foundation for a donation that was made to the charity.
Ms. Miles went on to say that the pandemic has taken its toll on people's mental health, and at the same time the pandemic has made things difficult financially for the whole charity sector. Mind UK will use the donation from the Archewell Foundation to continue to help to continue to ensure that everyone with a mental health problem gets support and respect.
Mind had issued a statement earlier in the week following the condemnation of Meghan by certain public figures after Meghan told Oprah in the TV interview about her suicidal thoughts whilst inside the Royal Family 'firm'. Meghan had also said that she had been discouraged for getting help for health.
Mind UK had said in their statement earlier this week that when celebrities and high profile individuals speak publicly about their mental health struggles, it can inspire others to do the same. They recognized the importance of Meghan sharing her mental heath experiences and condemned the negative attitude shown to all people who do speak out, saying that there is still a way to go to reduce mental health stigma and discrimination.
