Prince Harry helps celebrate a special birthday
May 12th, 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the publication of the first Thomas the Tank Engine Book by author Rev. W Awdry. His 40+ books led to a long running children's T.V. cartoon series that started in 1984 and is still running. It is now called Thomas and Friends. The first two series of Thomas the Tank Engine were narrated by Beatles band member Ringo Starr!
Many of our children grew up watching the cartoons, Prince Harry
included who as a kindergarten child had a lunch bag in the design of Thomas the Tank Engine. Harry has filmed a special message to introduce the 75th anniversary
episode. This episode is based on a story titled Thomas and The Royal Engine

Cartoons of The Queen and a young Prince Charles feature in the special anniversary episode, as does
a new engine, the Duchess of Loughborough, voiced by actress Rosamund Pike. In the story, Thomas (the engine) travels to
London for the first time to take Sir Topham Hatt (a.k.a. The Fat Controller) one of the show's main
characters, to Buckingham Palace to receive a special honor. Harry was not paid for his work but a donation to the Duke’s Travalyst initiative.
