Meghan Markle and Prince Harry wish New Zealander's Happy Waitangi Day

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have sent their best wishes to all the people of New Zealand today as they celebrate Waitangi Day. Meghan and Harry state that they honour the spirit and diversity of New Zealand and added that they remember the special time they had there during their tour in 2018.

Waitangi Day, is the national day of New Zealand and commemorates the signing on 6 February 1840 of the Treaty of Waitangi. Ceremonies take place at Waitangi (Northland) and elsewhere to commemorate the signing of the treaty, which is regarded as New Zealand's founding document. The day is observed annually and is designated a public holiday.
